- La Franqui
Very fast slalomspot, but with Tramontane
the offshore winds make this spot a bit dangerous (the wind can blow
you out on the Mediteranean). With Marin good waveconditions with
sideshore wind and waves up to 2 or 3 meters appear Parking space
near the beach. Be aware of the rocks located on the right end of
Cap Leucate.
- Le Goulet
Also know as the 'German Village' because
of the large number of German windsurfers with motor homes. The
water is even 500 meters out on the lake still only hip-deep. Le
Goulet is a great slalomspot with Tramontane. When the wind reaches
six Beaufort a small swell appears.
- La Mine
With Tramontane many locals prefer this
spot. The water is hip-deep untill 300 meters offshore. On the
northern side however the waterdepth is immediatetely two meters.
Here you can find some small waves (up to 1 meter high).
- Leucate Plage
In summer this beach is the grill-zone
for many Parisiens. Windsurfing is only recommended with Marin wind,
but not everywhere allowed. With onshore Marin some nice waves
appear.
- Parc a Huitres
The comfort-strip for beginners and
advanced with Tramontane and Marin. The water is hip-deep as
far as the eye can see. An anti-weed fin is recommended. Watch your
fin, the water near the shore can be very shallow!
- Port Leucate
For beginners only.
- Surf-center
Spot with a kilometers long white beach.
A sandbank is located 300 meters offshore and creates some nice
waves.
- Teleski
The best alternative for the surfers who
don't want to go out on the sea with Marin-wind or who want a bit
less wind.
- Coudalere
In the southern corner of lake Leucate you
will find waves of one meter. You'll find the best waves in the
middle of the lake. It's not always possible to visit this spot,
sometimes the the parking-place is not accessible. Then you'll have
to carry your equipment 500 meters to the water.
